There are so many different versions of this salad and this is one of my favorites. Warm Potato salad can become really heavy, but if the ingredients are set up right it can taste refreshing. Whenever you do a Barbecue or just a normal side dish, then I would recommend cooking this recipe.

This salad goes well with meat and especially with sausage like Bratwurst.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 5 Big Yellow Potatoes
  • 1 Bushel of Dill
  • 1 Medium Red Onion

Dressing

  • 2 Tablespoon Vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil

Instructions

  1. Clean, peel and cut your potatoes into medium pieces
  2. Boil your potatoes in cold water with one tablespoon of salt for 15 min. Make sure that the potatoes are still firm and don’t fall apart, since you don’t want to make mashed potatoes.
  3. While the potatoes are boiling you want to cut your onion into very fine/small cubes and set them in them in a heatproof bowl.
  4. Finely chop you dill and add them to your onions.
  5. Add your oil, salt, sugar and vinegar to the onion and dill and mix them together. Don’t be afraid to let your ingredients sit, since it will pickle your onions a little and make it taste even better,
  6. Remove the water from the potatoes toss them into your bowl with the dressing. Mix them up with a spoon and there you have a warm potato salad.

Notes

You can make this ahead of time and doesn’t need to be warm to be enjoyed. It will taste good warm and cold.
