I grew up with Streusel Plum cake since I can remember. The best part about this dessert is that it is simple to make and the Streusel on top of the cake makes all the difference. As a small kid I would pick out the Streusel first and set them aside to keep it for the end, because they were the best bit!

Streusel Plum Cake

A cake for any occasion, which can be eaten hot or cold with a nice dollop of whipped cream.

Ingredients

Yeast Dough

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 75 g sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Pkg vanilla sugar
  • 350 g Plum Jam or any Jam flavor you choose

Streusel

  • 200 g flour
  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 Package vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. First you will want to make the yeast dough by adding the dry ingredients together.
  2. Warm up the milk for the yeast, but not to hot to kill the yeast. If you out your finger in it should feel comfortable.
  3. Melt your butter and add your wet and dry ingredients together.
  4. Line your cake form with baking paper. Pour the batter into your 9 x 9 inch square form and spoon jam unto the batter.
  5. Prepare your Streusel by combining the flour, cold butter, sugar, salt and vanilla flour. Knead them roughly together and crumble them over your batter.
  6. Bake at 390 F or (200 C) for 35 minutes until the top layer is crispy and the dough risen.
  7. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream.
