A tasty family dish and loved in my family. It can feed a big family of six. This recipe is really easy to make and doesn’t require hours in the kitchen.

Mashed Potatoes
500g potatoes
300ml milk
50g butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
Water
Sauce
500g minced beef
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ketchup
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 medium carrots
1 medium yellow onion
Instructions
Peel and wash your potatoes. Cut them into big chunks and place them into a pot of cold water ( The water should barely cover the potatoes). Add 1 tablespoon of salt to your water and boil them for 25-30 minutes until fork tender.
Drain the water and and either mash the potatoes through a potato masher or a potato ricer.
Add your butter, salt and milk to it and combine together. If the mashed potatoes feel to dry then add more milk.
For the sauce cut up your carrots and onions into smaller chunks and sear them in the frying pan with a little oil. About 8 minutes or until onions are translucent.
Add your beef to it and break it apart into small pieces. Add your seasoning and tomato paste to it. brown the meat until the tomato paste turns brown.
Add your tomato sauce and boil the sauce until the carrots are done.
In a deep dish baking tray (12×9 inch) add your sauce at the bottom and top it of with your mashed potatoes.
Set you oven to broil to a 250C/480F and brown the top until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
