This farmer stew is a quick recipe my mom makes and it would fill our bellies. In Germany you could actually go to the store and get a Bauerneintopf seasoning pack, but not everyone lives in the Germany. I made this version for you to experience in case you live outside Europe.

Farmer Stew will take about 45 minutes in total to prep and to cook. Start prep at 11 am and be done for lunch. It is also a good recipe, when you need a hearty meal in those winter months.

Farmer Stew Ingredients:

Potatoes: Farmer Stew does cook for a while, I suggest using firm potatoes. Make sure to check your potatoes during the cooking progress to insure it doesn’t turn into mashed potatoes with sauce. 🙂

Red Bell Peppers: You can pick any color you like, but for the best and tastiest result I used red ones. Red bell peppers are sweeter in taste and give a nice vibrant color for this Bauerneintopf.

Onion: For this farmer stew use yellow onion and cut them into small pieces.

Garlic: I used garlic cloves from my in-laws garden. They are pretty potent and decided only to use two big cloves.

Ground beef/ porc: For this recipe I used ground porc, but you can use ground beef. Feel free to you half beef and half porc for it.

Sweet Ground Pepper: I use the sweet version, since I’m not the best with spicy, but you are free to use chili or other spicy condiments. In this farmer stew I chose it for the flavor and earthiness it gives the dish.

On another side note. Feel free to add other vegetables, if you don’t enjoy bell peppers. I like to add carrots to this dish, since it adds sweetness to it. Root vegetables are a good addition to this recipe.
