Moist Chocolate Walnut Banana Bread is amazing to bake, when you have a family that forgets to eat the bananas you bought. The forgotten bananas will finally have a purpose and who doesn’t like a soft and warm slice of banana bread.

Once you made your banana bread you can store it for 3 days in an airtight container. I recommend putting a slice into the microwave to warm it up a little and to melt the chocolate in it. Omit the walnuts, if you don’t like them or are allergic to them.

Chocolate Walnut Banana Bread Ingredients

Bananas: Bananas are the main crucial ingredient for this recipe. The riper they are the better and it will help squish them down easier with a fork.

Flour: Simple flour works for this banana bread recipe.

Walnuts: Walnuts add a nice texture the banana bread and some crunch.

Dark Chocolate: Since the bananas are sweet and combined with the sugar it will balance out the sweetness. Cut your chocolate into big chunks.

Butter: Use unsalted butter for this, because we don’t have control of the saltiness from salted butter.

Salt: I use coarse sea salt, because I like it more than table salt.

Chocolate Walnut Banana Bread

Delicious and easy recipe for a tasty banana bread. All you literally need is a bowl, fork and knife to make this happen. You can switch out the nuts for white chocolate or almond bits.

The bananas will add a natural sweetness to it, but if you like it even sweeter than add milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate.

If there are any leftovers from your banana bread, feel free to heat it up in the microwave for a couple of seconds and enjoy it like this or spread some butter on top of it.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 100 g roughly chopped dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Peel your bananas and place them into a bowl.
  2. Mash your bananas with a fork and add your white sugar, beaten eggs, vanilla essence, salt and butter together.
  3. Mix them together well.
  4. Add your flour with baking soda and mix it up.
  5. Chop up your chocolate and walnuts roughly, not too fine since you want to have some texture with this banana bread.
  6. Place parchment paper to your 8.5″ x 4.5″ bread form.
  7. Pour in the batter and bake your banana bread at 375 F or 180 C for about 1 h and 10 minutes. Baking time can vary oven to oven. Check the banana bread with a toothpick and once it comes out clean you can take it out.
